Progress and a frog

So I’ve managed to get strep 2 weeks in a row. This also means that I haven’t had the focus and energy that I’ve needed to put into the projects that have been giving me issues. When I finally had a day to catch my breath and the motivation, I sat solemnly frogging my Danse Macabre promising myself to start it as soon as I finish my Love in a Mist.

My Love in a Mist is coming along beautifully and I couldn’t be happier. If only I could find a few more hours in the day to get it finished up! I’m anxious to wear it and get back to my DM. I’ve also started a shawl for my mil for when she visits us, but shhh… it’s a secret!

Love in a Mist progress

Boats

The spring MKAL that I’ve been lazily working on for the last few weeks got the official frog today. After viewing a few finished versions others made, I couldn’t bare to continue. I was on the fence the last few weeks. I was more conflicted when I couldn’t start another MKAL because I needed one of the colors in the spring MKAL. The more I thought it out, the less I liked it. I have many other projects to finish that I keep putting off. I’ve also started another in anticipation of my daughter’s birthday. She recently confessed a love of foxes. I found an adorable paid pattern on Ravelry, and am currently working on it. It’s hard to believe she’ll be 9 in less than 3 weeks!

Taking a break from the usual fiber arts, I was excited to be invited out to a team building excersize with my mom’s staff to an art place to paint. There was food and drinks, and good company. I’d definitely love to do that again, even by myself wouldn’t be terribly bad. It was a nice challenge and fun organized chaos. Painting isn’t exactly my strong suit, but it was fun learning how to do it.

Catching up…

I’ve done a few avoidance projects lately, because what are a few distractions when you know you have a time table and make up work ahead of you? Last weekend it was a hand towel, this week it was a hat. My mind shudders every time I look at the projects on my table and in bags that I know are slowly counting down to their due dates.  I really want to get them finished. Just without, y’know working on them.
Actually this week I’ve lost a bunch of project focus due to pilates. I’ve started doing an hour of that and some other miscellaneous exercises for my bad back and knee and have found that it plays rather well into my posture, overall sitting position and energy levels. I haven’t been able to sit still much and didn’t get much knitting done this week aside from this lovely Pup Tent hat done with a token skein of Spud & Chlöe Sweater in Popsicle.

It still needs blocking to open up the pattern a bit. I’m rather pleased with how it turned out.
So the disaster from last week has been restarted and we are already back to where we need to be and then some. I’m super happy that I managed to get that done tonight.
Now off to bed so I can be well rested, as surely I will be waking up a minute or 2 before the alarm as I seem to have the knack for doing so as of late.
I want to be as well rested and carefree as my Mancy.

One of those mistakes…

I pulled out a project that I haven’t made any major progress on in a few weeks, and realized that I made a mistake stemming near the beginning of it. Granted it is a baby’s raglan sweater, and it was 4 rows before arm hole shaping that I caught it, I’m kicking myself for not seeing it sooner. Purling instead of knitting. Which changes the shaping and texture of a particular area that is supposed to end up in garter. Back to the beginning and starting all over again. 🐸

Knit picking

The last few days have been spent carefully ripping out the 8 rows of cc and putting in a life line, prepping myself to do a count and dive back into clue 5 so I can get 5 and 6 done. I will confess that lace work and I do not agree very well. I had my count on track, but it didn’t look a thing like what everyone else was showing off. So poor Edith’s secret and This DAM(NED)KAL will be delayed a bit further. My right hand seems to have seized up from all this knitting and unknitting and is begging for a vacation. Tonight I am hoping to catch a break and gather my motivation and get this mkal back in order. I managed to snag a bunch of baskets at the store this weekend to contain the mess of yarn that seems to fall out every time I rearrange the yarn cave. We’ve had a few 60+ degree days lately and I guess my mind has been more keen on planning the garden with winter slipping away.

In knitting news… check this crazy story out

I’ll give you a hint, it looks like this, and took over 3 hours and a lot of candy!

Several frogs and delays of sorts

I had a few projects for Christmas started, frogging already as a pattern wasn’t clear and the designer had taken too long bothering to get back (they haven’t).

I was rather bitter as I was finally ok with taking on a long term massive cable work project. So now I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve ripped it and started to look for more patterns.

I started a strange project the other day. (Minus the orange yarn)

More pictures to come when I have a sunny day and get it all shaped out. More crocheting and less knitting than normal. Must be unmotivated! lol

That awkward moment….

So I’ve had this project I’ve been fiddling with on and off, and it became disastrous while I was at an appointment.  I frogged a purse that I’ve been working on with fingering weight polyamide for about 3 weeks on and off. The self striping was working out beautifully until I found a hole. A noticeable hole. So much I decided to tink it back to the hole to try to fix it. Turns out it was an extra stitch, and the three inches of loose yarn between the hole and the working yarn was miserable.  I haven’t gotten this far in a project with something like that since I was a beginner. I tore the whole thing apart, and I’ll restart when I’m done taking care of father’s day stuff.
